Zheng He’s sailing maps of the China coast, dated c.1425 were the first reference to what is now called Victoria Harbour. Following the first and second Opium Wars, Great Britain named it after the British Queen Victoria becoming a colony of Britain. Situated between Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula, Victoria Harbour’s strategic location on the South China Sea provided shelter and enough depths to became one of the world’s busiest trading ports.
